General Information on Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentistry is a specialized field of practice that involves the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical correction of children’s dental health problems. As a pediatric dentist it is important to be patient, caring, attentive, well-mannered, and extremely knowledgeable about dental care. Dentists who deal with children on a regular basis also must have advanced education in child psychology, as they’ll have to comfort, calm, and console young people before, during, and after procedures. They also have to be skilled in orthodontics, anesthesia, operating room etiquette, infant oral health, oral surgery, and treating special needs children.

These accreditations provide proof of a dentist’s skills, education, and background, and are therefore necessary for any pediatric dentists who want to portray professionalism. So

Pediatric dentists are specifically trained to accommodate the needs of young people, and are therefore able to provide treatment to children of all ages, from infants to adolescents. Since performing successful dental procedures on children can be more challenging than treating their adult counterparts, only students who perform exceptionally in dental school are granted access to pediatric specialty programs. Dr. Roland Buyama has been practicing pediatric dentistry professionally since 1999, and has operated his own practice since 2008. With extensive experience in caring for children of all ages, he has developed the attributes necessary to become one of Southern California’s leading dentists.
